Hi! My name is Lauren and I’m a Fine Arts major here at Kent.
In order to introduce ourselves in our 3D Composition class, the assignment was to take a “Shelfie” of our workspace or desk area that tells something about ourselves.
As soon as that assignment was given I knew exactly what I wanted to take a picture of.
That’s right, my horror movie shelf that lives on my desk in my dorm room.
Yes, I did bring all of my horror movies and assorted little spooky trinkets along with me to college because I couldn’t stand leaving them at home.
Anyways, I thought this was an appropriate “Shelfie” because I love anything to do with horror, and it’s often what inspires my art and creativity.
I’m so thankful to have art because it has become an amazing outlet to help me express my passion for horror. And in fact, by combining my love of the two, I came to the conclusion of what I absolutely want to do with my life, to go on to become a special effects make-up artist/prop-maker for haunted houses and horror movies.
Sounds kind of crazy I know, but I’ve found that art and horror to me make the most fantastic combination ever and I can’t get enough of it.
